Visions of the Past - Heritage Trail
The complete trail, situated in Wanlockhead and through Meadowfoot, is approximately a two and a half-mile circular walk following the old narrow-gauge railway and tramway routes. Part of the trail follows the Southern Upland Walkways and other parts have several degrees of difficulty as indicated by the colour-coded routes. (Ref; The Downloadable Map)
The trail takes you passed various remnant buildings and areas linked to the Lead Mining Industry. The interpretation boards placed along the route will explain some of the histories of these remnants as with the local Mining Industry.
When visiting or walking the trail, please, be respectful and careful around all the remnant buildings and associated workings as they are in a deteriorated condition.
Wanlock Visions have the 'vision' to preserve the heritage buildings, for them to remain 'assets' with the ability to truly enrich the experience of the history and local environment through their historic community associations.
